Splace in den Farben meines Bettüberwurfs ist aus zwei unterschiedlichen Quellen zusammengesetzt: Das in Futura Extra Bold-Versalien dargestellte Wort ‚SPLACE‘ und der Sound stammen aus meiner gleichnamigen filmischen Recherche über Tokio (1996). Die darin verwendeten elf Farben entspringen einem von Barbara Brown 1969 entworfenen Stoff, den ich als Jugendlicher für mein damaliges Zimmer auswählen durfte und den ich heute noch besitze. Die daraus entstandene Animation ist ein komprimiertes Farb-, Raum- und Wortgebilde, eine abstrahierte Stadt und gleichzeitig eine bewegte Miniatur, die am Ende zum Ursprungsprojekt Splace in Form der Webseite splace.name zurückführt. Zusammen mit den Verweisen und dem Link fungiert Splace in den Farben meines Bettüberwurfs als Auslöser einer polyvalenten Endlosschleife.
Anlass für diese Animation war eine Einladung für die erste Ausgabe des digitalen Kunstmagazins Splace der Kunstuniversität Linz.

Splace in the Colors of My Beadspread originates from two different sources: The word ‚SPLACE‘ displayed in the Futura Extra Bold capitals and the sound come from my film research on Tokyo with the same name (1996). While the eleven colors used in that footage originate from cloth, designed by Barbara Brown in 1969, which I, as a youth, was allowed to choose for decorating my new room, and which I still own today. The animation which was created out of this is a condensed color, space and word structure, an abstracted city and simultaneously a miniature in motion which leads one back to the original project Splace in the form of the splace.name website. Splace in the Colors of My Beadspread, together with the references and the link, functions as a trigger for a polyvalent infinite loop.
The occasion for this animation was an invitation to the first edition of the digital art magazine Splace published by the University of Art and Design Linz.
