Die Arbeit Play City entstand 1999 im Rahmen des Projektes „Art Traffic“, bei dem Künstler*innen eingeladen wurden, Multiples in der maximalen Größe einer Zigarettenschachtel herzustellen. Karl-Heinz Klopf füllte eine Schachtel mit kleinen Styroporkugeln. Leert man sie aus, entstehen Agglomerationen, die an Modelle einer imaginären Stadt erinnern.
Die ersten Fotodrucke von Play City wurden erstmals für die Einzelausstellung By Way of Display in der Galerie Grita Insam (2003) hergestellt.

The work Play City was created in 1999 as part of the “Art Traffic” project, in which artists were invited to produce multiples no larger than a cigarette packet. Karl-Heinz Klopf filled a packet with small polystyrene balls. When emptied, they form agglomerations reminiscent of models of an imaginary city.
The first photo prints of Play City were produced for the solo exhibition By Way of Display at the Grita Insam Gallery (2003).
